New attempt of one of the popular cafes in Nijo

One of my favorite cafes"Cafe Phalam" has claimed they are opened as a bar every Saturday . For their 9th anniversary since they opened, they decide to do something new !

Their regular opening hours are from 9 am to 7pm and they do vegetarian menu and beautiful coffee and some sweets !
It is very cozy and people feel themselves at home.

 I love their sweets as they make at the site so the smell filters through the shop and it is fresh and tasty.

As for the bar , they are opened from 7 pm till late on  Saturdays.
They mainly serve alcohol, non-alcohol and small snacks.

I am looking forward to visiting them sometime !

Inspiring sweets in Kyoto

This is Saho from JKyoto.

I found an inspiring cafe the other day.
「Kamon piu」is located in north-west part in the city and is about 5 min walk from Enmachi station.

This is what it looks like from the outside.
As you see, the cute blue antique door is welcoming you.

The building itself is an apartment from 2nd floor and there is cafe 「kamon piu」on the first floor.

They are brought up on SNS these days because of their beautiful millefeuille.
Millefeuille is a french pastry that consists of layers of thin puff pasty and cream filling. Their strawberry millefeuille became very popular because of the impact of how it looks ! It might remind you of five storied pagoda !

But I tried Peach millefeuille that day.
(Maybe they provide their sweets with some fruits in season :)
They use one whole peach so it is filling and satisfying !

They also serve lunch  and you can find various types of pasta and pizza !
I tried lemon cream pasta with octopus and peppers :)
It was very new for me and refreshing :) !

Rainy day twilightin'

Seems like the rainy season is starting from late this week here in Kyoto (even the official announcement for the beginning of the season was around 10 days ago!)

What would you like to do on a rainy day?
My suggestion is to go check all the beautiful museums around the town, and spend hours and hours at a cafe, watching people and sipping coffee.

Here's my favorite in town.
Called Sarasa Pausa just off the Sanjo street, small cafe with really relaxed atmosphere, and their amazing sweets always make me indecisive to pick up one! (and usually end up choosing two, oh well)

And you can have seat by the window on the second floor where you can watch people coming and going with their colorful umbrellas!

Vegan cafe to go !

Hi this is Saho from J-Hoppers Kyoto Guest House.
My topic today is Vegan cafe, "CHOICE" and it is highly recommendable place for someone vegan, dairy free or gluten free !

They serve a variety of meals such as vegan burgers , gluten free pastas or pizzas and pancakes so this is a cafe to go for breakfast through dinner.

The cafe is light and airy and peaceful so good with solo, friends or couples.

Relaxing, Tasty and comfortable cafe to go

Hi there ! It has been weird weather these days. One day it is chilly and the other day it is amazingly warm ( rather hot!)
Some people might have itchy feet to be under the sunshine!

Today, I would like to recommend one of my favorite cafes that is "MARUNI CAFE"
It is located near GOJYO Staion(五条駅）, Kyoto.
The building itself is a workshop so playful atmosphere is
 floating a whole building and that cafe is on the 2nd stories.

Their speciality is a meat patty and they serve lots variety of sauce with best seasonal vegetable such as creamy sauce with spring cabbage. The photo below is a meat patty with demi-glace cheese sauce.

The other outstanding menu is...TAIYAKI(たい焼き）that is a
 fish-shaped pancake made from flour and there is red bean paste in it. However, it does not need to be red bean,some are with green tea paste, custard,chocolate and cheese etc...

If you ever have chance, why don't you have a break in MARUNI CAFE ? :-)

You must be very thirsty while you are in Kyoto.

I know, The summer in Kyoto is fatal !!!

I love living in Kyoto but I dislike to be here in summer.

Well, Here is a tip to feel much better only with 100yen !!!

You can find ICED COFFEE either in 7-Eleven, Family Mart and Lawson. It means almost averywhere in Japan! 

Starbucks is too expensive! 

Just grab some convenience store's iced coffee and keep going !!!

Footbath Cafe

There are many kinds of cafe in Kyoto and I recommend "Footbath Cafe" for this season.

It is already really cold here so it is good to take a footbath to warm up your body.

Or when you get tired with walking, you could relieve your fatigue.

You do not need to bring anything, a towel is included in the price!

Obyan cafe just 7mins from Kyoto Hana Hostel

About 7mins from our hostel, there is the cafe which i really want to recommend!!

It is located at crossing Shichijyo st and Kamo River. The best point of this Cafe is that
you can definitely enjoy the beautiful river view by the big window from inside of the Cafe!!

Cafe Kotsi

One day, I went to the Cafe Kotsi where was recommended by Kalie, one of my cool co-woker.





There are not only many books but also magazines and picture books.
I read four magazines about Europe.
Mmmmm..... I want to go back there!



They have some kind of french dish and bread.
The quiche I had was pretty good!

Kyoto is still hot.
