There are really lots of Japanese papers so you may need a long time to choose designs.
It is easy to bring the boxes because those are light and you can put 2 boxes into the largest one.

Minamiza Kabuki Museum 2013

Minamiza KABUKI Museum returns this fall to display the splendors of kabuki right inside the theater! 

 

The unique traditions and characteristics related to a kabuki performance, from artwork to props and vehicles used for the staging, can be viewed up-close, touched, and experienced, also making the perfect opportunity to take souvenir photos during your visit.

 

In addition, "Experience the Stage of Minamiza” allow visitors to experience the unique stage mechanism of the kabuki theater through group tours conducted daily during the exhibition period.

Kurabe-uma-e-Jinji

"The Ritual of the Racehorses" at Kamigamo Shrine
May 5th  start from 14:00

The horse race (in Japan) is said to originate from this shrine. This ritual became popular during the 11th century and has continued until today. It is designated by the City of Kyoto as an. "Intangible Cultural Property."

Fire Festival in Kurama

Usually Oct 22nd is the day of `Jidai Matsuri Festival' among people in Kyoto.

However there is another festival on the same day at just a bit north of Kyoto, Kurama.
It is called as `Hi Matsuri (Fire Festival)'.
Ans it is known as unusual festival...

Long row of torches planted on both sides of the street leading to Yuki Shrine are lit at 6pm.
Children in festival dress march to the Shrine carrying small torches, followed by adults with bigger torches.

Two boys travel from Ulaanbaatar (capital city of Mongolia) to Chandmani village. They try to look for who they are through the traveling. It also shows that how people in Mongolia lives - young people leaves countryside and heads for the capital city, they work at the factories (leather or meat) for making a living, families are apart from each other, traditional Tuvan throat singing is going to be disappeared little by little.

A thousand times visit Atago Shrine

Through the night on Jul 31st to Aug 1st,
tens of thousands of people visit Atago Shrine,
which on top of the mountain located northwest part of Kyoto city.



This is not only all night long crazy visiting shrine,
but also once you visit there on that day,
it means you visit there a thousand times.
Especially Atago shrine is a symbolic of fireproof.
So this worship brings you protection from fire.

It is about 4km climbing. And on the top of mountain, there are some place to have a rest and shops to have a little snack. Also, you can get the charms for your kitchen wall to put on (500 yen).

May 15th Aoi Festival

Aoi Festival reproduces the imperial processions to the shrines in ancient days .

An Imperial messenger and his suite in court costumes assemble at Kyoto Imperial Palace .
The festival is called Aoi ( hollyhock ) , because all the participants of the parade decorate their costumes with hollyhock leaves.
Hollyhock is believed to have all sorts of powers, including protection against lightning and earthquakes, and guaranteeing easy childbirth.


Route of the procession as below;
Kyoto Imperial Palace ( 10:30AM ) ---> Shimogamo Shrine ( 11:40AM )
Shimogamo Shrine ( 2:20PM ) ---> Kamigamo Shrine ( 3:30PM )
